Windows 95/98 Software Installation

Be very cautious about installing our EagleConnect software on your Windows95 or Windows98 computer! This particular package, called "eagle95.exe" was designed mainly for Windows95 clients who lacked an email program and only had Microsoft Internet Explorer version 2 or 3 installed on their computer.

If you install "eagle95.exe" and proceed to setup Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02 with Internet Mail and News over top of a newer version (you will get many warnings NOT to do this anyway) you will destroy your Internet settings quite efficiently and you will be in big trouble!

You will most likely find that all you really need to do is configure your TCP/IP settings and create a Dial-up Networking profile for eagle.ca. This is especially true for all Windows98 users and later versions of Windows95 commonly referred to as Win95B. If this is you, then go here!

How to install from Floppy Disk

You should have seven disks, labeled "1 of 7", "2 of 7", "3 of 7" and so on.

Place "Disk 1" in your floppy disk drive. We are going to assume that your A: drive is the 1.44M floppy drive on your computer. Your drive designation may differ.

Click on your Start button and then click on Run.

In the dialog box which appears type A:\SETUP and click on the OK button.

This should start the installation program. If it doesn't be sure you have the floppy disk in Drive A: and that you correctly entered the command A:\SETUP -- remember that is the letter A, then a : (colon), then a \ (backslash), followed by the word SETUP.

Now you can skip to the next section.

How to install from CD

Place the eagleConnect CD into your CD-ROM Drive. We are going to assume that your CD-Rom drive is drive D: on your computer. Your drive designation may differ.

If you have the "auto-run" feature enabled, Windows will automatically start the EagleConnect program. If it doesn't start on its own, then click on the Start button and click on Run

In the dialog box which appears, type D:\EAGLE95 and click on the OK button.

This should start the installation program. If it doesn't be sure you have the floppy disk in Drive D: with the label up, and that you correctly entered the command D:\EAGLE95 -- remember that is the letter D, then a : (colon), then a \ (backslash), followed by the word EAGLE95.

Now you can skip to the next section.

How to install from the Web

In order to do this, you would require a working Internet connection and a working browser. If you do, then why are you re-installing the software again? This may break your current setup and cause you lots of grief! Therefore, I'm going to skip this section because it will only get existing clients in big trouble! If you need to update specific programs please go to our Software @ eagle web site.

During the installation you will be prompted for a variety of information. You will need to provide:

-your first and last name

-your login id or username

And now, just follow the on-screen instructions. At the end of the EagleConnect installation, we launch the install program for Microsoft's Internet Explorer 3.02. Again, follow the on-screen instructions.

Please remember that this only installs software on your computer. You still need to configure your TCP/IP settings and create a Dial-up Networking profile for eagle.ca. To do this go here!

Please return to the EAGLE.CA - Customer Support Centre  for instructions on customizing your web browser preferences and configuring your email software!
